Natural’s Autobiography

When I was 6 years old in 1967, I witnessed my mother murder my pet chicken. A few days later, while eating Easter dinner with my family, my older brother was smiling and laughing.   I asked him, "Why are you laughing?"  He said, "You are eating your pet", as he was eating the same chicken.  That was my first awareness of our eating patterns in relations to animal cruelty and my first thoughts of veganism without ever hearing the term "vegan".   From 1972-1977, certain friends of mines of the Islamic influence attempted to educate me to stop eating swine with no success.  In September 6, 1977, after 5 years of failure, one of my friends said the 3 magic words, "I dare you".  In an instant, based upon my ego and emotions, to prove my friend wrong that I was not weak-willed, I took him up on his challenge to stop eating pork solely to prove that I can stop eating pork even though I did not believe in any benefits of eliminating pork or swine from my diet.  This means I had to buy my own pots and pans as well as reading all of the ingredients on labels of what I consume and looking for code words such as shortening, lard, glycerin, various types of glycerides, etc... At this point of my life, I felt compelled to drop what I considered to be my slave name, George Gittens, and I gave myself the name “Natural”.  As I became conditioned to reading all of the labels of what I consumed, I became most grossed out by the chemicals, preservatives, and other types of non-food ingredients that they put in our food supply.   As older non-family member adults in my life observing me reading labels, and eating only natural foods, they would question me about my eating habits, and always challenge me to eat more natural and fast (abstain from eating) more even though they were not following their own advice.  I took all of them up on all of their challenges. A neighborhood heroin attack becoming aware of my dietary progression, enlighten me to my favorite book entitled "Survival Into the 21st Century, A Planetary Healer's Guide" by Viktoras Kulvinskas.  As a result of studying this book, at age 17 while still in high school, I experimented with fruitarianism (a diet of fruits only), in which I lost a lot of weight and had the greatest spiritual high ever for one whole year.  I personally do not recommend this diet today due to a lack of raw vegan alkaline proteins in a diet that consist of only fruits.  While trying to mind my own business and to figure out the purpose of life and creation, working nights at a fast food restaurant and getting straight “A”s without really trying, while being discriminated against by some of my white teachers [by them intentionally giving me lesser grades than I was deserving] at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School located at 357 Clermont Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11238, I was somehow voted most popular when I graduated in 1979. 

As of February 1980, while attending SUNY College at Old Westbury, as a chemistry and physics major, and later becoming a member of student government, the president of African Peoples  Organization, and the Black Student Union with a powerful message to share with my college community, but too shy to perform public speaking.  I told myself if I do not share my powerful message through public speaking, who else do I expect to do it for me?   After 2 years of forcing myself to perform public speaking, totally fearful, I can now say that the greatest benefit I received from my college experience was not my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Physics, but my ability to share my powerful message through public speaking without fear to millions of people simply by asking myself "If I do not do it, who else do I expect to do it for me?" 

After college, I worked as a chemist and a medical technologist for 15 years and hated it.  I felt that God, the Universe, and the laws of Karma were punishing me for not being courageous enough to live my true life’s purpose. Even though I was a math and science tutor and mentor for young black males, that was not enough good for me.  It was not until I met a healer by the name of Queen Afua in 1990 who was promoting the 21-day urban fast, in which I was extremely jealous of because I foolishly felt she stole my life purpose even though I never met her before.  From 1990-1996, I was amazed how a black woman can motivate black people to fast [abstain from eating] and consume a vegan diet and live a healthy lifestyle, in which in my mind I personally felt that most black people I knew was not capable of becoming vegan or fasting.  Queen Afua had proven me wrong.  While working with Queen Afua, I became a natural living and nutritional fasting instructor and later due to my life’s work, I received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity degree from Universal Life Church.  As of 1998, I am the founder and director of the Temple of Illumination located at 138 Saint James Place, Brooklyn, New York 11238 telephone # 718-783-3465 website addresses www.templeofillumination.ning.com and www.meetup.com/temple-of-illumination-raw-vegan-university where we teach the methods and benefits of positive mental attitude, organic raw vegan alkaline diet, and regular exercise being necessary for an optimal healthy lifestyle.

Coffee lovers may live longer than those who don't imbibe -- with lower risks of early death from heart disease and neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease, a large U.S. study  finds. Researchers said the study, published online Nov. 16 in Circulation, adds to a large body of evidence on the good side of coffee. People often think of coffee-drinking as a bad habit that they need to break, said study leader Dr. Frank Hu, a professor of nutrition and epidemiology at Harvard School of Public Health in Boston. But, Hu said, many studies have linked moderate coffee intake to lower risks of developing various diseases -- from heart disease and diabetes, to liver cancer, to neurological diseases such as Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer's.

His team's study, funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health, adds another layer of evidence. It found that coffee drinkers were not only less likely to develop certain diseases -- they also tended to live longer. Over 30 years, nonsmokers who drank three to five cups of coffee a day were 15 percent less likely to die of any cause, versus nondrinkers. Specifically, they had lower rates of death from heart disease, stroke, neurological conditions and suicide. Both regular coffee and decaf were linked to longer survival, the study found.  None of that proves coffee, itself, extends people's lives or directly protects against certain diseases, Hu said. Other factors might explain the connection. But, Hu added, his team did account for many of those factors. And the coffee benefit remained. The findings are based on more than 200,000 U.S. doctors, nurses and other health professionals who were surveyed repeatedly over almost three decades. During that time, almost 32,000 study participants died.

It turned out that people who drank one to five cups of coffee at the outset had lower odds of dying during the study period when other lifestyle habits and certain health problems, such as high blood pressure and diabetes, were taken into account. Latest News Update

The relationship grew stronger when the researchers looked only at nonsmokers: Those who drank three to five cups of coffee a day were 15 percent less likely to die during the study period, compared with adults who didn't drink coffee. Lower risks were even seen among the heaviest coffee drinkers (more than five cups a day), who had a 12 percent lower death risk than nondrinkers.

"The body of evidence does suggest coffee can fit into a healthy lifestyle," Hu said.

That evidence, Hu noted, has already been incorporated into the latest U.S. dietary guidelines, which say that a healthy diet can include up to three to five cups of coffee a day. But overall lifestyle is key, Hu said. That is, there's a difference between a person who gets little sleep, then uses coffee to function during the day, and a person who sleeps well, exercises, and eats a balanced diet that includes some coffee. Alice Lichtenstein, a spokesperson for the American Heart Association, agreed. "This doesn't mean you should start drinking coffee in the hopes of getting health benefits," said Lichtenstein, who is also a professor of nutrition science and policy at Tufts University in Boston.

But, she added, the new findings build on years of evidence that coffee is not the bad guy many believe it is. "There's this lingering idea that coffee must be bad for you because it's enjoyable," Lichtenstein said. "It's almost like we've been trying to find something wrong with it."

There are caveats, though. "You do need to be careful about what you're putting in your coffee," Lichtenstein pointed out. Some milk is fine, she said, but watch the sugar and heavy cream. And why would coffee be related to health benefits? It's not clear from this study, Hu said, but other research has suggested that compounds in coffee can reduce inflammation, act as antioxidants, and improve blood sugar regulation, among other things. Also, when it comes to some neurological conditions, such as Parkinson's disease, Hu said, there's evidence that caffeine offers benefits.

The human anatomy dictates that humans are by nature frugivore and / or herbivore meaning that all humans are suppose to be consuming a vegan diet with the exception of mother's breast milk as newborns. Seeking a manual labor person

Greetings it ur Queen sista Rootsie again. I am in search of someone to perform manual labor for my catering business. Job basically requires you to be available when I have catering gigs to lift and transport all necessary items ( food, table, heavy shopping cart etc..) Male preferred but open to anyone. The only time requirement is to meet me an hour before transport time, help pack up and transport down 1 flight of stairs, also unload vehicle when destination is arrived There may be times where we transport via train.). You are not required to stay during catering is happening however, I need u to be on call to assist when transporting back to base. (Many times will be in the wee hours of the morning). My main business is a vegan food business as well as I have a business dealing in the Reggae music and film industry. I am in search of the ultimate personal assistant, someone that is looking for 20/30 hours per week with a 24 hour flexible schedule. Must flexibility on weekends, holidays and overnight. Person must be able to pass a drug test, travel internationally, be well organized and a multitasker, health conscious and vegan friendly. Job duties: various computer tasks including social media & email management. Take, make and return phone calls as well as texting duties. Running errands which includes grocery shopping. I will be holding circuit fitness classes starting on Sept 6 Tues from 11am to 12pm. The classes will be held on Tues at this time. All fitness levels are welcome men and women. Each week will be different. The instructor will notify you in advance if you have to bring accessory equipment(light hand weights, jump rope , bands)For the hour in most cases you will not need to bring any equipment. Just bring a towel and water. For the first 4 Tues in Sept on Sept 6 $150 will be due. $30 per class. 5 people must attend for classes to be run. I am the 2016 silver medalist in Olympic weightlifting for my age and weight class in being in the sport for 3 years. Here are some blogs on me.
