The Apollo Theater celebrates its annual Kwanzaa Celebration featuring the renowned New York-based dance company Abdel Salaam's Forces of Nature Dance Theatre and guest performances. Since 2006, the Apollo has established an annual show to celebrate this holiday tradition on one day of the Kwanzaa holiday. The Apollo's celebration is a joyful evening of dance and music honoring the principles of Kwanzaa - family, community, and culture.

Join us for the Museum's annual Kwanzaa Festival, 
a celebration of African-American heritage rooted in seven core principles known as Nguzo Saba, which promote unity, culture, 
and community development. 
 
The festival will feature a local artisan marketplace, 
and a special performance by 
Obediah Wright's Balance Dance Theatre, 
"Tap, Swing, Gospel and Sing: A Salute to African-American History and the 100th Anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance."
 
Expect drum calls, tap dancing, spirituals, jazz, and spoken word at this multi-generational celebration of life. 
 
Kwanzaa is hosted by Linda H. Humes, scholar and storyteller.

The American Museum of Natural History has been hosting one of the country's largest Kwanzaa celebrations for over 35 years. 
Kwanzaa is not a religious holiday, nor is it only for African-Americans. Everyone is invited to learn about the rich cultural legacy and contemporary artistic expressions of the African-American community.
